Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Rumson?
Yes. We provide home care throughout Rumson from our Short Hills office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.
Care options in Rumson
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
No senior center, so the county fills in
Rumson doesn't have a senior center of its own. The borough's website lists none, and neither does Monmouth County's list of senior centers. Rides come from the county's Shared Ride service, which takes residents 60 and over to destinations in its service area on weekdays from 7:30am to 3:30pm, gives priority to medical trips and food shopping, and asks for a reservation four days ahead. The county also lists Interfaith Neighbors as a provider of home-delivered meals.
A caregiver covers what a four-day booking and a 3:30 finish can't: a late appointment, a change of plans midweek, a Saturday errand, or simply being there with your mother through the visit and the ride home.
What the borough offers, and what a caregiver adds
Rumson Police keep a Confidential Resident Information Form, which records emergency contacts and any special needs for your address so officers have them at hand. The forms are at Police Headquarters at Borough Hall, and the borough sends emergency alerts through Everbridge. The Tax Office handles the $250 Senior Citizen/Disabled Persons Deduction, and curbside bulk pickup is by appointment on the first and third Wednesdays, January through October.
A caregiver can sit down with your mother to fill out the form and sign up for alerts, keep the pickup days straight, and be in the house when a storm changes the plan. That is the part of the day no borough service covers.

Questions Rumson families ask
Does Rumson have a senior center?
No. The borough's website lists no senior center, and Monmouth County's list of senior centers has no Rumson entry. The county's Division on Aging in Freehold is the main office for senior services, and a caregiver can fill the days and hours those services leave open.
How does the county Shared Ride work for someone in Rumson?
It serves residents 60 and over and people with disabilities on weekdays from 7:30am to 3:30pm. Riders reserve four days ahead, and medical trips and food shopping get priority. For later appointments or a same-week change, a caregiver can drive and stay with your mother.
How can Rumson Police know about my mother's needs ahead of time?
Rumson Police accept a Confidential Resident Information Form, which holds emergency contacts and special needs for your address. The forms are at Police Headquarters at 80 East River Road, and a caregiver can help your mother complete one.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your mother has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
