Endurance Home Care is a family-founded home care company with offices in Stamford, Connecticut and Short Hills, New Jersey. These are answers to the questions families ask us most: what a caregiver helps with, how care starts and how families pay for it.
Paying for care
Most families want to know about cost early, and that’s a fair place to start. Endurance is private pay. Rates depend on the schedule, the kind of help and where your parent lives, so we’ll talk it through with you and explain what care would cost. Long term care insurance gets its own place in our main navigation, right beside the care itself, because for a lot of households the policy is the plan. Bring the actual document to the consultation. Tom and Chris read policies with families themselves instead of passing them to a billing desk, so the answer you get is about your policy, not policies in general. You leave that conversation knowing what yours appears to cover, what it does not, and where the gap sits, before a single caregiver is ever scheduled, and we’ll help with the paperwork.

Does Endurance Home Care work with long term care insurance?
Yes. Families with a long-term care insurance policy can use it to pay for care, and we'll help with the policy paperwork. Long term care insurance has its own place at Endurance Home Care, and families review their policies directly with the founders. One client wrote: When I met with Tom and Chris, we discussed our LTC policy and my stress level was very much reduced. Endurance is private pay and doesn't bill insurance directly, so bring the policy when we talk and we'll explain the next steps.
What a caregiver helps with
A caregiver cooks, drives, does the laundry, sits with someone, gives a reminder when medication is due and stays nearby when being alone has become the worry. Any of these can be part of the plan, by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock.

Is Endurance Home Care a medical home care agency?
Endurance Home Care helps with daily life at home: companion care, and hands-on personal care such as bathing and dressing. When nursing is part of the picture in Connecticut, our separate company, Endurance Home Health, provides skilled nursing, home health aides and physical therapy, and can work alongside us.

A visit at home
A registered nurse conducts the in-home assessment, covering routines, safety and fit, in the rooms where the care will actually happen, and writes the care plan with your family.
The right caregiver
A caregiver is matched to the household, not assigned to a slot, and introduced before the first visit.
Every month after
A monthly care-plan review, plus a review whenever needs change, keeps the schedule and preferences current. Your Care Manager keeps you posted.

Dementia at home, and which number to call
Memory support at home keeps familiar routines steady, offers patient company through the harder hours and helps with meals and the rest of the day. Caregivers take three-hour dementia training sessions, and our nurses hold the eight-hour Certified Dementia Educator certification.
Some families also add optional audio monitoring, which listens for events rather than conversations and alerts our team. Your family decides whether to use it.

How does care start with Endurance Home Care?
With a conversation. Call (203) 936-6847 in Connecticut or New York, or (973) 315-5323 in New Jersey, and tell us what has been getting harder. A registered nurse then visits at home and writes a care plan with your family, and we choose a caregiver and introduce them before the first visit. The care plan is reviewed monthly and whenever needs change.
How often is a care plan reviewed?
Monthly, and whenever needs change. After a fall, a hospital stay or a harder stretch, tell us and we'll review the plan with you, adjust the hours and update your family's preferences. Your Care Manager keeps you posted along the way.
What is the difference between companion care and personal care?
Companion care is help with daily life: company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides and reminders. Personal care adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing, the bathroom and moving around safely. We provide personal care in Connecticut and New Jersey. In New York we provide companion care, by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock.
What is the difference between live-in care and 24-hour care?
With live-in care, a caregiver lives in the home and has agreed time for rest, including a night's sleep. With 24-hour care, caregivers work in shifts and stay awake, so support carries on through the day and the night. The right arrangement depends on the help needed, especially overnight, and we'll talk it through with you.
Do you offer overnight care?
Yes. An awake caregiver can stay through the night hours to help to the bathroom, settle someone after a bad dream and let the rest of the family sleep. Overnight care can be arranged on its own or as part of a larger schedule.
How much does home care cost?
It depends on the schedule, the kind of help and where your parent lives, so we talk it through with you rather than quote a rate card. Endurance is private pay, and if there's a long-term care insurance policy, we'll help with the paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
Can we meet the caregiver before care starts?
Yes. We choose a caregiver for your parent's routines, preferences and personality, and introduce them before the first visit. If the fit isn't right, tell us and we'll find someone else.
How are your caregivers screened?
Every caregiver passes background checks, reference checks and verification of qualifications before we hire them. They go through orientation before their first shift and keep training with us every month.
Can you help someone living with dementia?

I live in another state. Can I arrange care for my parent?
Yes. Tell us where your parent lives and the help they need, and we'll talk through the options and how your family will stay involved. Your Care Manager keeps you updated, wherever you are.

Yes, with reminders. A caregiver can remind your parent when it's time to take medication. When a nurse is needed for more than that, our separate company, Endurance Home Health, provides skilled nursing in Connecticut.
