Who this site is for

A care company that cannot be reached is not a care company. Most people who open endurancehomecare.com are doing it at a bad hour: a daughter reading on a phone in a hospital corridor, a husband at the kitchen table with the lamp on and his glasses somewhere else in the house. Some of them listen to this page through a screen reader. Some magnify it several times over. Some never touch a mouse and move through the whole site by keyboard. Every one of them is trying to arrange home care services in Stamford, and the site owes them the same front door as everybody else.

What we are aiming at

The target for this site is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. A target is what this is, and the distinction matters: we are telling you what the site is built toward, not handing you a certificate. No outside audit has been performed, and none is being claimed here. When a page falls short of the target, the page is what changes. A statement of conformance, with the date it was checked, will appear on this page only once it has been verified in testing, and not one day earlier.

What is actually built in

Accessibility statements tend to be a paragraph of good intentions. This one lists the numbers instead, because a number can be checked and a pledge cannot. Body text on this site is set at eighteen pixels rather than the smaller default most sites ship, since the people reading it are frequently reading it without their glasses. Form fields are set at sixteen pixels, which is the size that stops a phone from zooming in the moment you tap a field and losing your place on the page. Buttons and links are built to a minimum target of forty eight pixels, so a tap does not have to be precise to land. Every control can be reached with a keyboard alone, and the control you are on always shows a visible outline. Images that carry meaning carry alternative text; images that are only decoration are hidden from screen readers, so nothing reads you a description of a lamp.

Telling us what is broken

Call and say so

The Client Support Line is the fastest way to report a page, a form, or a link that is hard to use, and a person answers it. Tell us the page you were on and what happened. You do not need the name of the problem, and you certainly do not need to know the standard it breaks. That part is ours.

Or write it down

The consultation form takes written reports as readily as it takes questions about care. If the form itself is the thing that is not working, the phone line is the way around it, and telling us that the form failed is the single most useful report we can receive.

What happens next

We will tell you what we found and what we are changing. If a fix is going to take a while, we will say so plainly rather than going quiet.

For other ways to reach us, use the contact page.
