Hourly care runs the opposite way round from most arrangements. The family names the window first, and the staffing is built to fill it, rather than the household bending itself around a block of coverage somebody else drew up.

The schedule is set case by case, not off a menu. The consultation is free, and the in home assessment is where the window on the calendar turns into a real plan for the household.

Hourly visits are one of all home care services on one schedule. In Connecticut and New Jersey, a visit can stay company only or add hands on support during visits as the need changes. New York visits remain companion care only.

The arrangement assumes an uninterrupted night and stops working if that is broken repeatedly.
Awake 24 hour care
A rotating team, awake through every shift. Nobody sleeps on duty.
Someone present and awake from midnight to midnight.Typically two twelve hour or three eight hour shifts, so somebody is always both present and awake. No spare bedroom is needed because nobody sleeps in the house.

One visit can cover company and conversation, a meal made and eaten with somebody there, an errand run, a ride to an appointment, laundry and light homemaking, a reminder at the hour a medication is due, and supervision when being alone is the risk. Caregivers support, coordinate, remind, accompany, and supervise. Nothing on that list is medical.

What is hourly home care?
Hourly home care is daily-living support scheduled by the hour instead of by the day: a caregiver comes for a set window to help with company, meals, errands, transportation, homemaking, medication reminders, or safety supervision. How much does hourly home care cost in Connecticut?
