Endurance Home Care staffs 24 hour and live in care in Connecticut and New Jersey. Start timing is confirmed after the location, schedule, support needs, and caregiver availability are checked; New York service is companion care only.

Nights are the part families cannot cover forever, so the night is the part we take first.

Live in

24H / One household

One caregiver moves into the home, sleeps there, and keeps the household running on the routine it already has. Meals, laundry, reminders, errands, and company, with scheduled breaks written into the plan. It suits a house where the nights are usually quiet and what matters most is that nobody is ever alone in it.

Shift based

24H / Rotating shifts

Caregivers rotate so somebody is awake and on duty at every hour, including the ones nobody plans for. It suits a household where sleep is broken, where someone gets up and wanders, or where getting safely from bed to bathroom takes two people rather than one.

Which model fits is settled at the in home assessment, and it comes down to what the nights actually require and what the budget allows. If only a few hours of the day are hard, that is a different arrangement: fewer hours, care by the visit.

What twenty-four hours of care looks like

Three of these get called round the clock care. Only one of them means somebody is awake at three in the morning, and the difference is the most expensive misunderstanding in this industry.

  • Hourly care

Chosen blocks. The gaps are covered by the family, or by nobody.

Someone present and awake from 8am to 11am. Someone present and awake from 5pm to 8pm.Any hours the household picks. Drawn here as a morning and an evening visit, which is an example rather than a schedule.

  • Live-in carethis page

Someone in the house all day and all night, sleeping at night.

Someone present and asleep from midnight to 7am. Someone present and awake from 7am to 10pm. Someone present and asleep from 10pm to midnight. The caregiver sleeps, and can be woken when something needs doing. The arrangement assumes an uninterrupted night and stops working if that is broken repeatedly.

  • Awake 24 hour care

A rotating team, awake through every shift. Nobody sleeps on duty.

Someone present and awake from midnight to midnight.Typically two twelve hour or three eight hour shifts, so somebody is always both present and awake. No spare bedroom is needed because nobody sleeps in the house.

  • Someone here and awake
  • Someone here, asleep
  • Nobody here

Mixed arrangements are common and often the sensible answer: awake cover on the nights that are hardest, hourly support in the day. Live-in care compared with awake 24 hour care goes through it properly, and what each one costs is on the paying for care page.

Around the clock care usually starts on a particular day, not a gradual one.

After a discharge

A parent comes home on a Thursday with a walker and a page of instructions, and the house is set up for neither. The first week is the one families improvise through, and the one worth staffing properly.

When the nights turn over

Evenings get unsettled and the person doing the getting up is a spouse in their eighties. Overnight coverage gives the household its sleep back before exhaustion makes the decision for it.

Instead of a facility

Families price assisted living, decide the house is still the better place, and then need the staffing that makes that choice real rather than theoretical.

What staying home costs against a Connecticut facility

The comparison families actually run is the house against a building. Long Term Care Navigator published 2026 medians for Connecticut, and those are the only figures on this page. They are statewide market medians, not Endurance prices.

Assisted living$9,118 / moLong Term Care Navigator Cost of Care, 2026 Connecticut figure
Nursing, semi private$15,208 / moLong Term Care Navigator Cost of Care, 2026 Connecticut figure
In home, 40 hrs / wk$6,864 / moLong Term Care Navigator Cost of Care, 2026 Connecticut figure

Around the clock coverage runs past 40 hours a week, so the in home figure above is a floor and not a quote for live in or shift based care. The honest version of this comparison happens at the in home assessment with your actual hours in it. Long term care policies often reimburse home care, and the terms differ enough that reading yours matters more than any general answer: long term care insurance help.

The layer behind the caregiver

An optional audio check-in service runs alongside caregiver hours, and the alerts are answered by the same office team that schedules the caregivers.

The caregiver is the care. The technology only raises a hand. Families can add 24/7 audio alerts, which notify the Endurance team so they can respond promptly. It does not diagnose, treat, or assess anyone, and it does not stand in for the person in the house. On a live in schedule it covers the hours the caregiver is asleep. On a shift based schedule it is a second set of ears for the office overnight.

Who is actually in the house at two in the morning

  1. Vetting

Background checks, reference checks, and verification of qualifications and certifications, before anybody is placed in a home overnight.

  2. Monthly training

Training continues every month through an online program. Overnight work changes as a household changes, and the person doing it keeps learning.

  3. The same faces

Live in care places one caregiver in the household. Shift based care runs a set rotation rather than whoever happens to be free, so the nights are covered by people who already know the house.

Where we cover, and how timing is confirmed

Endurance staffs live in and 24 hour schedules out of 60 Long Ridge Rd, Suite #214 in Stamford, and out of the Short Hills office in New Jersey, across Connecticut and New Jersey, and in New York as companion care. Start timing depends on the address, schedule, support needs, and an available caregiver match. The sequence is one call to the Client Support Line, an in home assessment, then a caregiver matched to the household rather than assigned to a slot. Caregivers support, coordinate, remind, accompany, and supervise. They do not diagnose, treat, or administer. This is one of all home care services.

Questions families ask about nights

What is the difference between live in care and 24 hour home care?

Live in care places one caregiver who resides in the home and sleeps there, with scheduled breaks. Shift-based 24 hour care rotates caregivers so someone is awake and on duty at all times. Endurance offers both models and helps families choose at the in home assessment, based on nighttime needs and budget.

Is staying home cheaper than assisted living in Connecticut?

It depends on hours. Long Term Care Navigator's 2026 Connecticut medians: assisted living $9,118 per month, a semi private nursing room $15,208, and in home care at 40 hours per week roughly $6,864. Around the clock coverage costs more than 40 weekly hours, so an in home assessment is the honest way to compare for your situation.

Do you provide live in caregivers in Stamford?

Yes. Endurance Home Care staffs live in and 24 hour care in Connecticut and New Jersey. Start timing is confirmed after the location, schedule, support needs, and caregiver availability are checked. Call (203) 936-6847 for Connecticut or (973) 315-5323 for New Jersey. New York service is companion care only.

What happens overnight with 24 hour home care?

With shift-based 24 hour care, an awake caregiver is on duty through the night. With live in care, the caregiver sleeps in the home and responds as needed. Endurance can add its 24/7 remote audio care monitoring, which alerts its team so they can respond promptly.

Can 24 hour care start after a hospital discharge?

Yes. Endurance built a named program for exactly this: Endurance Homebound focuses on the first 72 hours after discharge, the window its program targets as a plan for the first days home. Tell the consultation team the discharge date and they will plan live in or shift coverage around it.
