Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Little Silver?

Yes. We provide home care throughout Little Silver from our Short Hills office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.

No senior center, so the Woman's Club and the county fill in

Little Silver doesn't have a senior center. The borough's website lists none, and neither does Monmouth County's list of senior centers. Borough recreation for adults is open to residents only. At the Woman's Club, 111 Church Street, Pilates meets on Tuesdays at 9am, free for residents, and canasta on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm. A Walking Club also meets on Monday mornings at 9:00 for about two miles.

Rides come from the county's Shared Ride, which takes residents 60 and over on weekdays from 7:30am to 3:30pm, puts medical trips and food shopping first, and asks for a reservation four days ahead. A caregiver covers what that schedule can't: a late appointment, a plan that changes midweek, or going along to the Woman's Club and staying for the class.

What the borough asks you to register

Little Silver keeps an Emergency Management Special Needs Form. It asks whether someone would need help getting to an evacuation center, takes refrigerated medication or relies on a life-support device that needs power, and the borough says the Police Department and Emergency Management Committee hold what you write in strict confidence. The Municipal Clerk keeps a No Knock Registry for homes that don't want canvassers, and the borough site has a sign-up for Police, EMS and Fire alerts.

The Tax & Finance page adds a $250 senior citizen deduction and points to the state's ANCHOR program. A caregiver can sit down with your mother to fill out the form, sign up for alerts and keep the paperwork in one place, and be in the house when a storm changes the day.

Getting started

How care is arranged in Little Silver

It starts with a conversation, and nothing begins until you say so.

  1. A conversation

Call or send a request. Tell us who needs help, where they live and what's been getting harder. You don't need the right words.

  2. A nurse visits at home

A registered nurse comes to the house in Little Silver, gets to know everyone and writes the care plan with you.

  3. You meet the caregiver

We choose a caregiver for the routines and preferences that matter and introduce them before the first visit. If it isn't working, we find someone else.

  4. Updates as you go

Your Care Manager keeps you posted and changes the plan with you when needs change.

Questions Little Silver families ask

Does Little Silver have a senior center?

No. The borough's website lists none, and Monmouth County's list of senior centers has no Little Silver entry. Adult recreation runs through the borough at the Woman's Club, rides come from the county's Shared Ride, and a caregiver can fill the days and hours those leave open.

What is the Emergency Management Special Needs Form?

It's a form for residents who may need help in an emergency, such as a ride to an evacuation center, refrigerated medication or a power-dependent life-support device. The Police Department and Emergency Management Committee keep it in strict confidence. A caregiver can help your parent complete it.

What does the Woman's Club offer older residents in Little Silver?

Borough recreation for residents includes Pilates there on Tuesdays at 9am, free for residents, and canasta on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm. A caregiver can drive your parent and stay for the session.

How do families pay for home care?

Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
