A caregiver can pick those up, and if help with bathing or dressing is needed too, hands on personal care can be part of the same visit.
What Connecticut’s homemaker companion category means
In Connecticut, agencies that help with homemaking and companionship at home register with the Department of Consumer Protection as Homemaker-Companion Agencies. A registration is a public record rather than an endorsement, and it’s a good number to ask any agency for. Homemaking is one part of all home care services.

Homemaking services keep an older adult's home running smoothly: light housekeeping, laundry and linens, meal preparation, dishes, groceries and errands. Endurance Home Care provides homemaking on its own or alongside companion care and personal care, on a schedule that suits the household.
On its own, or paired
Most households need more than one kind of help. Homemaking can be a regular visit that keeps the house in order, or it can share a visit with company alongside the housework or with hands-on help for the person. One caregiver often covers the mix, agreed with the nurse at home, and it can change as needs do. When you’d like a short weekly block, homemaking help by the hour is the same work on a smaller footprint.
We provide personal care in Connecticut and New Jersey. In New York we provide companion care, by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. Homemaking comes with companion care in every state we serve.

What is the difference between homemaking and personal care?
Homemaking is help with the house: cleaning, laundry, meals and errands. Personal care is help for the person: bathing, dressing, grooming and getting around. Many schedules combine both in one visit, with the mix agreed when a registered nurse visits at home.
