Serving Lloyd Harbor from our Stamford office
Companion care in Lloyd Harbor
Lloyd Harbor has 35 miles of public roads and no senior center of its own, so a day out for your mother usually starts with someone driving her to Huntington. We can send a companion who does the driving, stays for lunch, sees her home and is there for the evenings in between.
The first conversation is free, and nothing starts until you say so.
Does Endurance Home Care provide companion care in Lloyd Harbor?
Yes. We provide companion care throughout Lloyd Harbor from our Stamford office. It can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. A registered nurse visits first to plan the care with your family, and you meet your companion before the first visit.
Care options in Lloyd Harbor
Companion care, on the schedule you need
In New York we provide companion care only, and it can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. That means company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and regular updates for the family. Tell us what the days and nights are like and we’ll talk through the schedule with you.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
The Town's Senior Center, since the Village has none
The Village's departments are administration, police and highway, and a senior center isn't one of them. Lloyd Harbor is in the Town of Huntington, whose Senior Division serves Huntington seniors 60 and older at the John J. Flanagan Senior Center, 423 Park Avenue. It's open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm and is a Suffolk County Nutrition Site.
A companion can drive your mother to Park Avenue, stay for lunch if she'd like company, and be there after the center closes at 4:30 and at weekends.
Meals and groceries at the door
The Town's Home Delivered Meals program is for Town residents over 60 who can't provide for their own nutritional needs. Five frozen meals arrive on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The Town also runs a Shopping Assistance Program for residents 60 and older, which can include online ordering, curbside pickup, shopping on a client's behalf and help receiving groceries at home. It isn't meant to pay for anyone's groceries.
A companion can be home when the delivery comes, put the groceries away, warm a meal and sit down to it with your mother, and cook fresh on the days in between. Shopping trips fit into the same visit.

Credentials and recognition
Questions Lloyd Harbor families ask
Does Lloyd Harbor have its own senior center?
The Village doesn't list one among its departments, which are administration, police and highway. Lloyd Harbor is in the Town of Huntington, and the Town's Senior Division runs the John J. Flanagan Senior Center at 423 Park Avenue, open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Check current programs with the Town.
Can my father get meals at home through the Town?
The Town of Huntington's Home Delivered Meals program is for residents over 60 who are unable to provide for their own nutritional needs. Eligible seniors get five frozen meals, delivered on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and the suggested contribution is $3.00 per meal, anonymous and voluntary. On the other days, a companion can cook and eat with him.
What happens in a storm or a power emergency?
The Town of Huntington offers Huntington Alert, a sign-up for weather and public safety emergencies, and the Village's own police department handles patrol and emergency response. A companion can also stay through the night when bad weather is coming.
How do families pay for companion care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
