Care options in Roslyn
Companion care, on the schedule you need
In New York we provide companion care only, and it can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. That means company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and regular updates for the family. Tell us what the days and nights are like and we’ll talk through the schedule with you.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
A day at the Roslyn Senior Center
The Roslyn Senior Center at Trinity Episcopal Church is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, with lunch, food shopping, a lending library and transportation. EAC, Inc. runs it for the Nassau County Office for the Aging, which announced the opening in October 2025. The County asks for a reservation to join lunch. October's calendar starts with a social hour over coffee and tea, then exercise, Tai Chi, line dancing, yoga and games, with lunch and announcements at noon and a bus that leaves the center at 2pm.
A companion can get your father to the Roslyn Senior Center for the lunch he reserved and bring him home on his own schedule, not the bus's. On the days and hours the center is closed, the same companion can keep him company at home, cook supper and keep the house running.
Taxi rides, and a library that delivers
Roslyn is in the Town of North Hempstead, where Project Independence gives residents 60 and over free taxi rides to food shopping two days a week between 10am and 2pm, on days that vary by community, with a limit of three bags per rider. Rides to medical appointments are discounted. Both are booked at least a day ahead, before 4pm, and drivers can't physically help a rider into the taxi. Aides ride at no additional charge, so a companion can go along.
The Bryant Library at 2 Paper Mill Road delivers free to Roslyn School District residents who can't get to the library and have no one to go for them. You can ask for a delivery or a pickup once a week, and the librarians choose titles from the interests you list on the application, or you can call ahead for something specific. A companion can shop on the days the taxi doesn't run, carry the bags inside and be home when the library bag arrives.
