Serving Old Westbury from our Stamford office
Companion care in Old Westbury
Nassau County gives Old Westbury two senior centers, one in Westbury and one in Roslyn, and neither is in the village. If your father would like to spend time at one of them, a companion can drive him, stay for lunch and be with him after the doors close. Tell us how his week goes, and we'll plan the hours with you.

Care options in Old Westbury
Companion care, on the schedule you need
In New York we provide companion care only, and it can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. That means company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and regular updates for the family. Tell us what the days and nights are like and we’ll talk through the schedule with you.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Two centers, and neither is in the village
Nassau County's list assigns Old Westbury to the Westbury Senior Center at 360 Post Avenue, open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm with lunch served. The same list also names Old Westbury under the Roslyn Senior Center at 1579 Northern Boulevard, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm with lunch, food shopping, a lending library and transportation. Its October calendar shows lunch at noon and a bus that leaves the center at 2pm.
A companion can drive your father to either one, stay for lunch if he'd like company, and bring him home when he's ready instead of when a bus leaves. A companion can also be there in the late afternoon, in the evening and on weekends, when both centers are closed.
Village Hall, the Village police and two Towns
Old Westbury runs its own services from 1 Store Hill Road. Village Hall is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:30pm. The Village Police Department, serving since 1924, answers its own 911 calls and has officers on duty around the clock across close to nine square miles. Village taxes are payable June 1, and water bills go out on May 1 and November 1, due a month later. For school and town tax questions the Village sends residents to either the Town of North Hempstead or the Town of Oyster Bay.
A companion can keep track of the Village calendar for your father: the tax and water bill dates, the call to the right Town office, and the errands to Village Hall on Store Hill Road.

Credentials and recognition
Questions Old Westbury families ask
Does Old Westbury have a senior center?
The village doesn't have one. Nassau County assigns Old Westbury to the Westbury Senior Center at 360 Post Avenue, open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm with lunch, and also lists it under the Roslyn Senior Center at 1579 Northern Boulevard, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm with lunch and transportation. The County asks for a reservation to join lunch.
Is there a bus to the senior center from Old Westbury?
The County lists transportation as available at the Roslyn Senior Center, and its October calendar shows a bus leaving the center at 2pm. A companion can drive to either center, on any day and at any hour that suits your father.
Which Town's senior programs can an Old Westbury resident use?
The Village sends school and town tax questions to either the Town of North Hempstead or the Town of Oyster Bay, so it's worth asking the Village which Town covers your address. North Hempstead's Project Independence gives residents 60 and over free taxi rides to food shopping two days a week between 10am and 2pm. Oyster Bay's Senior Citizen Services Division runs free groups and classes for residents 60 and over at its community centers. A companion can drive to either.
How do families pay for companion care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
