Serving Jericho from our Stamford office
Companion care in Jericho
Jericho has no senior center of its own, so Nassau County sends residents to the Roslyn Senior Center on Northern Boulevard, where lunch is at noon. If your mother would like that kind of day but needs the ride and some company around it, tell us how her week goes, and we'll plan the hours with you.
The first conversation is free, and nothing starts until you say so.
Does Endurance Home Care provide companion care in Jericho?
Yes. We provide companion care throughout Jericho from our Stamford office. It can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. A registered nurse visits first to plan the care with your family, and you meet your companion before the first visit.
Care options in Jericho
Companion care, on the schedule you need
In New York we provide companion care only, and it can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. That means company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and regular updates for the family. Tell us what the days and nights are like and we’ll talk through the schedule with you.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Where Jericho's senior days happen
Nassau County's list of senior centers has none in Jericho. It assigns Jericho to the Roslyn Senior Center at Trinity Episcopal Church on Northern Boulevard, which is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm with lunch, food shopping, a lending library and transportation. EAC, Inc. runs it, and the County asks for a reservation to join lunch. The October calendar puts lunch at noon, with exercise, Tai Chi, yoga and line dancing through the week, and a bus that leaves the center at 2pm.
A companion can make the lunch reservation, drive your mother over and stay for lunch if she'd like company, then bring her home when she's ready rather than when the bus leaves. A companion can also be there in the late afternoon, for supper and in the evening, and on weekends, when the center is closed.
The Town of Oyster Bay, and the library that comes to you
Jericho is in the Town of Oyster Bay, whose Senior Citizen Services Division runs free groups and classes for residents 60 and over at its community centers and parks, along with luncheons, day trips and an annual Senior Picnic. The October program lists the Syosset-Woodbury Community Center on Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury among its sites and none in Jericho itself. The County's transportation page says the Town runs a shopping bus to malls and food stores in some communities.
Jericho Public Library at 1 Merry Lane has curbside pickup: place a hold, call to schedule a time, and a staff member brings the items out to the car. For residents who can't get to the library, it delivers to the Jericho School District with a medical professional's note on a prescription pad, up to five titles in a bag for six weeks, including large print. A companion can drive to the curb, take back the bag and pick out the next books with your father.

Credentials and recognition
Questions Jericho families ask
Does Jericho have a senior center?
Nassau County's list has none in Jericho. The County assigns Jericho to the Roslyn Senior Center at 1579 Northern Boulevard, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, with lunch and transportation available. The County asks for a reservation to join lunch. The Town of Oyster Bay also holds senior classes and groups at its community centers, including the Syosset-Woodbury Community Center on Jericho Turnpike.
Can the Jericho library bring books to my father at home?
Yes, if he lives in the Jericho School District and has a Jericho library card. The library delivers items from its collection, such as books, audiobooks and large print, for six weeks at a time, up to five titles in a bag. He'll need a note from a medical professional on a prescription pad saying he can't travel to the library. Curbside pickup is simpler if someone else can drive: a companion can collect the items at the curb.
Does the Town of Oyster Bay have a bus for seniors in Jericho?
Nassau County's transportation page says the Town of Oyster Bay offers a shopping bus to malls and food stores in some communities, and to ask the Town's Department of Community Services whether yours is one. On other days, or for places the bus doesn't go, a companion can drive your mother and shop with her.
How do families pay for companion care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
