Does Endurance Home Care provide companion care in Plainview?

Yes. We provide companion care throughout Plainview from our Stamford office. It can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. A registered nurse visits first to plan the care with your family, and you meet your companion before the first visit.

Friday mornings on Jamaica Avenue

Every Friday through the school year, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Senior Citizen Club meets at the Jamaica Ave School. Doors open at 9am, a yoga and exercise class runs from 9:30, and the meeting goes from 10am to 12:15pm. The club is for adults 55 and over, and membership is $20 a year. Meetings and parties are for residents of the Plainview-Old Bethpage community, and the club's trips and outside holiday parties are open to all guests.

A companion can drive your mother there and home again, go along to a trip or a party when she'd like company, and fill the other six days: lunch, errands, the library and the evenings.

Town classes, County lunches and a library that mails

Plainview is in the Town of Oyster Bay, whose Senior Citizen Services Division runs groups and classes for residents 60 and over at its community centers and parks, from tai chi and yoga to bingo and karaoke. They are free apart from a possible materials fee, and the Town adds luncheons, day trips and an annual Senior Picnic. Nassau County's list of senior centers assigns Plainview to the Wantagh Senior Center at St. Jude's Church, with lunch, food shopping and transportation, and also lists the Bethpage Senior Center on Grumman Road West for Nassau County residents.

If getting out is the hard part, Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library at 999 Old Country Road runs Library To Your Door, which mails up to three items a month, free, to anyone who can't visit because of illness or disability. A companion can drive between the Town's classes and the County's centers, help with the Library To Your Door envelope, and take your mother to the library when she'd like to choose in person.

Getting started

How care is arranged in Plainview

It starts with a conversation, and nothing begins until you say so.

  1. A conversation

Call or send a request. Tell us who needs help, where they live and what's been getting harder. You don't need the right words.

  2. A nurse visits at home

A registered nurse comes to the house in Plainview, gets to know everyone and writes the care plan with you.

  3. You meet the caregiver

We choose a caregiver for the routines and preferences that matter and introduce them before the first visit. If it isn't working, we find someone else.

  4. Updates as you go

Your Care Manager keeps you posted and changes the plan with you when needs change.
