Randolph's Dial-A-Ride
The township's Dial-A-Ride is for permanent residents 60 and over, and for adults 18 and over receiving Social Security disability benefits. Shopping trips run on Mondays to ShopRite or Walmart in Roxbury, and on Wednesdays to a rotating list of stores in Rockaway, Parsippany and Randolph.
For a medical procedure involving anesthesia, the township requires an aide to ride along, and the driver picks up and drops off that aide at the passenger's home. A caregiver can be the aide the Dial-A-Ride requires, or drive your wife to the procedure and home again and stay with her afterward. That escort role is a real, narrow booking, one person for one day, starting and finishing at the house, and we'd rather arrange it as what it is than as a care package.
When the week gets smaller
Randolph is a big township with no single walkable center. The pattern we see most here isn't a person who can't manage their house, but a person whose week has quietly emptied because everything in it needed a car. A standing arrangement that gets her out of the house on a regular rhythm usually helps most.

Can my wife take the Dial-A-Ride to a procedure?
Yes, if an aide rides with her. For any procedure involving anesthesia, the township requires an aide on the bus, picked up and dropped off at her home. A caregiver can ride along as that aide, or drive her there and back instead if that's easier.
Do we need anything to join Randolph's senior programs?
Yes. Senior programming at the Community Center needs a Randolph Senior ID card, which costs ten dollars a year.
