Yes. We provide home care throughout Brielle from our Short Hills office. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.
Care options in Brielle
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
The library on South Street, and its Friday delivery
Brielle Public Library at 610 South Street is open until 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and until 1pm on Saturdays, and a library card is free to Brielle residents. Its adult programs include author events, lectures, workshops, book discussion groups and computer classes, and adult patrons can reserve museum passes with a Monmouth County Library card.
For a parent who can't get to the library, Brielle was the first library in the Monmouth County Library System to offer delivery to the homebound. A resident whose medical or physical limitations keep them from visiting calls by 5pm on Wednesday, and the books are delivered or picked up on Friday morning, in regular or large print or as audio books, with no limit on how many. The books are due back in two weeks. A caregiver can make the Wednesday call, be there on Friday morning and sit with your mother over the new stack, or drive her to an evening program.
Rides, meals and the days in between
Monmouth County's published list of senior centers has no entry for Brielle, so older residents turn to the county's Division on Aging in Freehold. Its resource list includes nutrition sites and home delivered meals, chore services and Project Lifesaver. For rides, Ride in Monmouth's shared ride takes seniors 60 and over Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm, with priority for medical trips and food shopping, and needs a reservation four days ahead.
At home, the borough collects household garbage once a week, in containers of 32 gallons or less, two at most. Anyone going away can fill out the police department's Closed Home form with where they'll be, whom to contact and which vehicles stay, and the borough sends CodeRED notifications to those who sign up. A caregiver can handle the bins, the form and the alerts, and drive your father to an appointment after 3:30 or on a weekend.

Questions Brielle families ask
Will the Brielle library bring books to my father?
Yes, through its Homebound Book Delivery Program, for Brielle residents whose medical or physical limitations keep them from visiting. He calls by 5pm on Wednesday, and books are delivered or picked up on Friday morning, in regular or large print or as audio books. A caregiver can place the call and be there on Friday.
Does Brielle have a senior center?
Monmouth County's published list of senior centers has no entry for Brielle. The county's Division on Aging in Freehold is the place to ask about meals, chore services and rides, and a caregiver can take your parent to any program that suits them.
Can my mother get to a doctor's appointment without driving?
Ride in Monmouth's shared ride is open to seniors 60 and over, Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm, with priority for medical trips, and needs a reservation four days ahead. For a sooner appointment, a later one or a weekend, a caregiver can drive her and stay with her through the visit.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
