Care options in Moorestown
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
Clubs and lunches already on the calendar
Moorestown Parks and Recreation runs a Senior Women's Club every Tuesday from 12 to 3pm, with coffee, cards, live music, chair yoga and bingo, and a Senior Card Club on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 to 12, where pinochle is a favorite and no registration is needed. Both meet at the New Albany Recreation Center on New Albany Road. Burlington County's Golden Years Luncheon Club serves lunch at Bethel AME Church on North Church Street on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 1pm, for people 60 and older, and no one is refused for being unable to give the $2.00 donation.
That is a good week of reasons to leave the house, and it leaves the afternoons, the evenings and the weekends. A caregiver can help your mother get ready, drive her there and home, stay if she would like company, and be with her for the rest of the day.
Rides, meals at home and safety at the door
SEN-HAN Transit, Burlington County's paratransit service for residents 60 and older, takes medical ride reservations from two days to two weeks ahead, and personal business rides three days ahead for trips within five miles of home. The county's Meals on Wheels delivers to homebound residents 60 or older on weekdays between 9am and 3pm, and the person needs to be home to receive the meal.
Moorestown Police accept a Special Needs Emergency Information Form from any resident about a family member, and the Burlington County Sheriff's Senior Citizen Home Security Program offers eligible seniors a home security survey that may lead to new door locks, viewers and lighting at no cost. A caregiver fits around all of it, there to receive the delivered lunch and to get your mother to the ride on time.

Questions Moorestown families ask
What senior programs does Moorestown offer?
Moorestown Parks and Recreation runs the Senior Women's Club on Tuesdays and the Senior Card Club on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, both at the New Albany Recreation Center. A caregiver can drive your parent to either one and stay.
How does my father get a ride to a medical appointment in Moorestown?
Burlington County's SEN-HAN Transit books medical rides for residents 60 and older anywhere from two days to two weeks ahead, and the reservation line is open from 9am to 4pm. For an appointment that comes up sooner, or when he would like someone to go in with him, a caregiver can drive him and stay through the visit.
Can my mother get Meals on Wheels in Moorestown?
Burlington County's Meals on Wheels delivers to homebound residents 60 or older on weekdays between 9am and 3pm. The county interviews each person to decide eligibility, and clients need to be home to receive the meal, with exceptions for treatments such as dialysis. A caregiver can be there to take the delivery and sit down to lunch with her.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
