Orange's senior transport
Riders apply to the town's senior transport and are approved before their first trip. Medical rides run Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm and Friday mornings, to Orange and nearby towns including Milford, New Haven, West Haven and Woodbridge. The shopping bus is booked by noon on the Friday of the week before.
Every bus has a wheelchair lift, and caregivers are welcome to ride along. A caregiver can go with your parent to appointments, or drive them on the days the bus doesn't run. We're also there for the evening, the weekend, and the couple of weeks after a discharge when your parent isn't steady enough for a bus yet.

Questions Orange families ask
Can a caregiver ride the Orange bus with my mother?
Yes. The town welcomes caregivers riding along with an approved rider, so a caregiver can go with her to appointments and help when she gets home. A caregiver can also drive her on other days.
Can we start with a few hours and add more later?
Yes. You can start with a few mornings or afternoons a week and add hours, overnights or live-in care as needs change. Your Care Manager adjusts the plan with you.
What if my parent also needs nursing or therapy?
For skilled nursing, home health aides or physical therapy, Endurance Home Health, our separate company that provides them in Connecticut only, can help. Our caregivers handle daily life: personal care, meals, the house, medication reminders and company, and where a doctor or a home health nurse already has a plan running, we build our hours around it.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
We live out of state. How will we know how things are going?
Your Care Manager keeps you updated on a schedule you agree together, and you can call us any time you want to talk something through. You'll know who to call when something changes.
