Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Sharon?
Yes. We provide live-in home care throughout Sharon from our Stamford office. A caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help, with agreed rest time built in. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first day.
Care options in Sharon
Live-in care, with someone there through the day
In Litchfield County our care is live-in. A caregiver lives in the home, keeps the day running and is there when your parent needs a hand.
Live-in care can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. How live-in care works.
Rides from Geer, and the days the bus comes
Sharon is in the primary service area of Geer Dial-A-Ride, which runs Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 4:30 for riders over 60 and for people with disabilities. Geer's own page gives more than one notice rule, so book as early as you can and confirm the notice with Geer when you sign up. Its Just One Call service will phone the doctor's office to schedule the appointment and arrange the ride. The Northwest CT Transit Dial-A-Ride also serves Sharon, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with 24 hours' notice and a $2.00 one-way fare.
A live-in caregiver can drive your mother when the appointment comes up the same day, on the days the transit bus isn't running, or on a weekend, and can stay with her through the visit and get her settled at home after.
Social Services at Town Hall, and a warm place to walk
Sharon's Social Service Agent evaluates residents' needs and offers information, referrals and resources, from the second floor of Town Hall at 63 Main Street, Tuesday to Thursday from 8 to noon and 1 to 4. Energy assistance applications are on the bookshelf outside her office. The state's tax program for elderly homeowners is handled through the Assessor's office, and Northwest CARES is a coalition of agencies that serve older residents across the northwest corner.
From October through April, Sharon Parks and Recreation runs a free indoor walking program at the Hotchkiss School on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00 to 8:30 AM. A caregiver can go along for the walk, then be there for breakfast, the paperwork and the rest of the day.
