Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Litchfield?
Yes. We provide home care throughout Litchfield, including Bantam, from our Stamford office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.
Care options in Litchfield
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
No senior center, but a town office to start with
Litchfield doesn't list a senior center among its town departments. For older residents and their families, the place to start is Social Services at the Town Hall Annex, 80 Doyle Road in Bantam. Its coordinator is also the town's Municipal Agent for the Elderly, and the office is open Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm and Friday from 8:30am to 1:30pm. The town's list of local help includes Meals on Wheels, a chore service and an Alzheimer's caregiver support group.
An office with those hours can't be there on a Friday afternoon, in the evening or on a weekend. A caregiver can: with breakfast, company through the day, a calm evening routine and someone in the house overnight, in the hours when nothing else is open.
Rides to appointments, and the booking they need
The town lists a Senior Bus through Social Services. For medical trips there is also RITS, the Rural Independent Transportation Service, which gives non-emergency rides to the elderly and disabled. There is no fare, and donations are accepted. Rides are booked 48 hours in advance and run door to door Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, including to medical facilities outside the region.
That makes the appointment something to plan around, because a ride has to be booked as soon as the date is set and it runs on weekdays. A caregiver can drive when the schedule changes, on an evening or weekend, stay with your father through the visit and bring him home afterward.
