Serving Woodbury from our Stamford office
Home care in Woodbury
Woodbury's senior bus runs every weekday, and the Senior Community Center serves a hot lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If your mother or father wants to keep using all of it but needs more help at home around it, a caregiver can fill in the rest. Tell us what's changed, and we'll plan the hours with you.

Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Woodbury?
Yes. We provide home care throughout Woodbury from our Stamford office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.
Care options in Woodbury
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
Lunch and the senior bus, and the hours in between
The Woodbury Senior Community Center serves a chef-cooked hot lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon, by reservation, with a suggested donation of $3.50 to $5.00. On other days, Senior Dine offers a hot meal at certain local restaurants at a reduced rate, with an application. Meals on Wheels brings meals to the door one or more days a week, on a referral through the town's Municipal Agent.
The senior bus is free, with donations accepted, for Woodbury residents 60 and older and for adults with a disability. It takes riders to the Center and home again on weekdays, to shopping on set days, and to non-urgent medical appointments by reservation: Waterbury, Middlebury and Watertown on Mondays and Wednesdays, Woodbury and Southbury on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, ideally between 9:30 and 1:30. It can't take anyone to a medical procedure. A caregiver covers the rest: the afternoon appointment, the procedure day, or staying beside your mother through a visit.
Social Services, tax relief and library delivery
Woodbury's Social Services Director is also the town's Municipal Agent for the Elderly, a post the state created in 1972. The office gives information and referrals on Medicare basics, energy assistance, renters' rebate, home health aide support and respite support, and home visits are available. The Senior Community Center also hosts support groups, including ones on caregiver needs and early dementia. The Assessor's Office runs the state and local tax relief programs for homeowners 65 and older, with the filing period running from February 1 to May 15.
Woodbury Public Library, at 269 Main Street South, has a volunteer-run Homebound Delivery service for residents who can't visit because of medical or physical conditions. The library has a pamphlet and a form to fill out. A caregiver fits around all of it, with the meals, company and daily help in between.

Questions Woodbury families ask
Will the Woodbury senior bus take my mother to the doctor?
For non-urgent appointments, yes, by reservation through the Senior Community Center. Rides go to Waterbury, Middlebury and Watertown on Mondays and Wednesdays and to Woodbury and Southbury on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, ideally between 9:30 and 1:30. The bus doesn't take riders to medical procedures. A caregiver can drive her to those, or to any appointment outside the bus's days, and stay through the visit.
When does the Woodbury Senior Community Center serve lunch?
A chef-cooked hot lunch is served on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon, by reservation, with a suggested donation of $3.50 to $5.00. On other days, the Senior Dine program offers reduced-rate meals at certain local restaurants after an application. A caregiver can take your father to lunch and home again, or make lunch at home on the other days.
Can the Woodbury library bring books to my mother at home?
Yes, for Woodbury residents who can't get to the library because of medical or physical conditions. The service is run by volunteers, and the library has a pamphlet and a form to fill out. A caregiver can be there when the books arrive and keep her company while she chooses what to read.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
