Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Glastonbury?
Yes. We provide home care throughout Glastonbury from our Stamford office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.
Care options in Glastonbury
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
Dial-A-Ride runs on a schedule, and the day doesn't
Glastonbury's Dial-A-Ride is free in town for residents 60 and older, or 18 and older with a certified disability. It runs weekdays from 8:45am to 3:30pm, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 8pm, and on Saturdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm. Rides have to be reserved by 11am the day before, and weekly grocery trips run on set days depending on which side of Hebron Avenue you live.
The service doesn't take anyone to a medical appointment outside Glastonbury, and riders who aren't fully alert and steady on their feet have to bring an attendant. A caregiver fills those gaps: driving to a specialist out of town, staying through the visit, or making the same-day trip to the pharmacy when nothing was booked.
Lunch, the Friendship Circle and a full senior center
The Senior Center at the Riverfront Community Center, 300 Welles Street, is open to residents 50 and older with no membership dues, and it stays open until 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays. Lunch is served Monday to Friday from 11:45am to 12:15pm, reserved by 11am the day before, at $5 for residents.
The town's Friendship Circle is a social program for seniors with early stage memory loss. It meets Tuesday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm, two or four days a week, and Dial-A-Ride can bring participants there and home. A caregiver is there for everything around it: the afternoon after the program ends at 12:30, the days it doesn't meet, and the evenings and nights.

Questions Glastonbury families ask
Will Glastonbury Dial-A-Ride take my father to a doctor outside town?
No. Dial-A-Ride does not provide transportation to medical appointments outside of Glastonbury. A caregiver can drive him to the appointment, stay with him through the visit and bring him home.
How far ahead do I have to book Dial-A-Ride in Glastonbury?
Reservations are taken until 11am the day before the ride. For a same-day errand, or a trip when the schedule has changed, a caregiver can go with your parent or take them.
What is the Friendship Circle in Glastonbury?
It is the town's social program for seniors with early stage memory loss, held Tuesday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm, with a choice of two days or four. The town charges a monthly fee, and Dial-A-Ride can bring participants. A caregiver can be at home when your parent returns.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
