Does Endurance Home Care provide companion care in Woodmere?

Adult education at the Woodmere Education Center

The Hewlett-Woodmere school district runs adult education programs that are open to all adult district residents, and residents 60 or older are eligible for a 10% discount. Registration can be done online or in person at the Woodmere Education Center, Room 206, which also houses the district offices, and the in-person visit is by appointment only.

A companion can sit down with her to choose a class, help her set up the appointment or register online, drive her to the Woodmere Education Center for it, and see her to class and home again. Between classes, the companion handles the meals, the errands and the quiet evenings.

Woodmere Dock on Brosewere Bay

Woodmere Dock is a Town of Hempstead site at 198 Woodmere Blvd S, at the southern-most tip of Woodmere Avenue South. It gives a view of Brosewere Bay and its surrounding marshlands, has fishing access, and is open from dawn to dusk.

A companion can drive your father down for an afternoon, keep him company while he watches the water or fishes, and have him home for supper. On weekdays when he'd rather have lunch with other people, the county's Hewlett Senior Center on Broadway serves Woodmere from 9:30am to 3:30pm, and the companion covers everything outside those hours.

Getting started

How care is arranged in Woodmere

It starts with a conversation, and nothing begins until you say so.

  1. A conversation

Call or send a request. Tell us who needs help, where they live and what's been getting harder. You don't need the right words.

  2. A nurse visits at home

A registered nurse comes to the house in Woodmere, gets to know everyone and writes the care plan with you.

  3. You meet the caregiver

We choose a caregiver for the routines and preferences that matter and introduce them before the first visit. If it isn't working, we find someone else.

  4. Updates as you go

Your Care Manager keeps you posted and changes the plan with you when needs change.
