Care options in Pittsford
Companion care, on the schedule you need
In New York we provide companion care only, and it can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. That means company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and regular updates for the family. Tell us what the days and nights are like and we’ll talk through the schedule with you.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
A week at the Community Center
The Town's Senior Center is in the Pittsford Community Center at 35 Lincoln Avenue. Lunch Club 60 meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with meals booked a week ahead. Twice a month there's a Tuesday luncheon at noon, followed by a speaker or music, and you register at least five days before. Classes such as yoga, Tai Chi and Zumba Gold are free to Pittsford residents, and a movie matinee with breakfast treats starts at 10:30 on Thursday mornings.
A companion can drive your mother to the Community Center and home again, remind her which days are club days, make lunch at home on the Tuesdays and Thursdays between, and be there in the evenings and at weekends when the building is quiet.
Elderberry Express, and a companion for the rest
Elderberry Express, a volunteer service based at the Community Center, gives Pittsford residents 55 and over free rides to necessary appointments and grocery trips. Volunteers drive, rides are booked ahead with the service, and appointments are between 9am and 3pm.
A companion can drive when the appointment falls outside those hours, stay with your mother through the visit, or take her somewhere on short notice, like the library at 24 State Street.

Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
