Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Hopewell?

Yes. We provide home care throughout Hopewell Township, Titusville included, from our Short Hills office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.

Hopewell Valley Rides, and the afternoons it fills

Hopewell Valley Rides takes your father anywhere in the valley for $8 one way, Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. It serves residents of Hopewell Township, Hopewell Borough and Pennington Borough who are 60 and over and no longer drive, and the township asks for 48 hours' notice. The first 10 one-way rides each month are at the $8 rate, and additional rides are billed at the full cost of the ride. A caregiver traveling with your father has to be registered too, and he may wait at times between the end of an appointment and his pick-up. Mercer County's T.R.A.D.E. service goes anywhere in the county for a $1 suggested donation, also on weekdays only. Township Senior Services is at 201 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in Titusville.

A caregiver covers the rest: a Saturday errand, an appointment that came up yesterday, or the wait after a visit ends. She can drive him there, stay with him through the visit and bring him home.

Bridge, mahjongg and meals at the door

The Hopewell Valley Senior Center at 395 Reading Street, Pennington, has Social Bridge on Mondays from 1:30 to 4:00pm and a Mahjongg game on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30pm, free, where beginners are welcome to sit in with experienced players. Meals on Wheels of Mercer County, which the township's resources page links, brings a meal once each weekday between 10:30am and 1:00pm to residents 60 or older who need help to leave home. Volunteers can't leave it unattended at a door or in a cooler, so someone needs to be home.

A caregiver can be there when the volunteer arrives, put the meal out with the rest of the day's food and help your father get to bridge or Mahjongg. Then the caregiver stays for the company, the meals and the house in between.

Getting started

How care is arranged in Hopewell

It starts with a conversation, and nothing begins until you say so.

  1. A conversation

Call or send a request. Tell us who needs help, where they live and what's been getting harder. You don't need the right words.

  2. A nurse visits at home

A registered nurse comes to the house in Hopewell, gets to know everyone and writes the care plan with you.

  3. You meet the caregiver

We choose a caregiver for the routines and preferences that matter and introduce them before the first visit. If it isn't working, we find someone else.

  4. Updates as you go

Your Care Manager keeps you posted and changes the plan with you when needs change.

What goes on at the Hopewell Valley Senior Center?

What is Operation Blue Angel in Hopewell Township?

It's a free Hopewell Township Police program for residents of the township and the borough who are 55 or older and live alone or are alone for extended periods. Police place a lockbox on the door that holds a key you supply, and responding officers use it only in an emergency when they can't get in. A caregiver can be with your parent on the days they would otherwise be on their own.

How do families pay for home care?

Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
