Serving Tewksbury from our Short Hills office
Home care in Tewksbury
Tewksbury's own Senior Corner page points families to Hunterdon County for senior services, so much of what helps comes from Flemington. If your mother or father in Tewksbury or Oldwick needs more day-to-day help than a program can give, a caregiver can be the steady part at home. Tell us what's changed, and we'll plan the hours with you.
The first conversation is free, and nothing starts until you say so.
Does Endurance Home Care provide home care in Tewksbury?
Yes. We provide home care throughout Tewksbury Township, including Oldwick, from our Short Hills office. Your family can choose hourly visits, awake overnight care, live-in care or care around the clock, as companion care or personal care with hands-on help. A registered nurse comes to the house first to write the care plan with you, and you meet the caregiver before the first visit.
Care options in Tewksbury
Help for the days, the nights, or both
Some families need a few hours a week. Others want someone there overnight, or living in. Here's what each option looks like at home.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Any of these can be companion care, which covers company, meals, light housekeeping, errands and rides, or personal care, which adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing and moving around safely. See how live-in care and 24-hour care differ.
The county senior center, and the ride to it
The township's Senior Corner page sends families to the Hunterdon County Division of Senior Services rather than to a center in town. The county's Senior Center is at 4 Gauntt Place in Flemington, open to Hunterdon County residents who are 60 or older and have filled out a membership form. It offers exercise classes, health and wellness activities, language and art classes, card games and a technology help desk, which meets by appointment on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:30pm. Special events need pre-registration.
Getting there is its own question. The county's LINK serves every Hunterdon County resident, but it's a shared ride, and a ride for the next day has to be reserved by noon on the weekday before, with no weekend or holiday requests. For specialized medical appointments outside the county, the Volunteer Driver program asks for at least two weeks' notice, schedules weekday appointments between 9:30am and 2:30pm and charges no fee. A caregiver covers what advance booking can't: an appointment that came up this morning, a ride on Saturday, and someone to stay with your mother through the visit.
Help the county sends to the house
Mr. Fix-It is a Hunterdon County volunteer program that does home maintenance and repairs for residents 60 and over. The county's Meals on Wheels delivers two cold weekend meals on Fridays to homebound seniors, and Hunterdon Helpline offers telephone reassurance calls, Friendly Visitor volunteers and a Volunteer Shopper for people who can't get to the store.
The county also keeps a voluntary Special Needs Registry, held in a secure database at Hunterdon County Communications, for anyone who may need extra help in a police, fire or medical emergency. Those programs fill parts of the week. A caregiver is there for the rest of it, with meals, company, the house and the daily routine, and can be at the door when a volunteer visits.

Questions Tewksbury families ask
Does Tewksbury have a senior center?
The township's Senior Corner page points to the Hunterdon County Division of Senior Services, not to a center in town. The county's Senior Center is at 4 Gauntt Place in Flemington, open to Hunterdon County residents 60 and older who fill out a membership form. A caregiver can drive your mother there and bring her home again.
How far ahead do we book a ride on the Hunterdon LINK?
A ride for the next day has to be reserved by noon on the weekday before, and the county won't take requests made on a Saturday, Sunday or county holiday. Because the ride is shared, pickup times can shift. When you need a ride on short notice, a caregiver can drive your mother and stay with her.
What is the Hunterdon County Special Needs Registry?
It's a voluntary registry open to anyone who lives, goes to school or works in Hunterdon County and may need extra help in a police, fire or medical emergency. Applications go into a secure database at Hunterdon County Communications, the county's emergency dispatch center. A caregiver can help your parent fill out the application.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare does not pay for ongoing daily help at home.
