South Orange's Dial-A-Ride
The South Orange Parking Authority runs a Dial-A-Ride minibus that picks up senior residents and takes them anywhere in town. Its current schedule is Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with a shopping trip to the ShopRite in West Orange on the first and last Wednesday of each month.
A caregiver can fill in around it, with rides to appointments outside the village, errands on the other days, and help getting ready before the minibus arrives.
The village's 55+ classes
The Village Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs runs classes for residents 55 and over at the SOPAC Loft, which has an elevator, and at the Skate House on Mead Street. A caregiver can drive your husband there and bring him home again.
