Madison's Dial-A-Ride and the days around it
Madison's Dial-A-Ride serves residents 60 and over on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 8:30am to 4pm, and asks for at least two business days' notice. XtraMile, the on-demand ride service Madison shares with Guilford, runs Monday to Saturday, so it covers the days Dial-A-Ride doesn't. Riders set up an account before their first trip.
A caregiver can help with the rest: getting ready before the van comes, lunch and some company afterward, or a ride on a day that doesn't fit either schedule. We're there for the days after a Friday discharge, before Dial-A-Ride runs again, and for the hours on either side of a treatment day. Which days does Madison's Dial-A-Ride run?
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 8:30am to 4pm, for residents 60 and over, with at least two business days' notice. A caregiver can drive your mother to appointments and errands on the other days.
Can we start with a few hours and add more later?
Yes. You can start with a few mornings or afternoons a week and add hours, overnights or live-in care as needs change. Your Care Manager adjusts the plan with you.
What if my mother also needs nursing or therapy?
For skilled nursing, home health aides or physical therapy, Endurance Home Health, our separate company that provides them in Connecticut only, can help. Our caregivers handle daily life: personal care, meals, the house, medication reminders and company, and where a doctor or a home health nurse already has a plan running, we build our hours around it.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
