Cheshire's senior rides and their weekly rotation
The Town of Cheshire's Senior and Transportation Services give rides to residents over 55, or over 21 with a disability, booked at least 24 hours ahead, for a suggested donation. Out-of-town medical rides go to a different place each day of the week, for example Meriden on Mondays and New Haven on Thursdays, and the appointment needs to fall between 10 and 2.
So it helps to check the rotation before you accept a clinic time. When an appointment lands on a different day or later in the afternoon, a caregiver can drive your mother, and help her get ready beforehand and settled at home afterward. We're for everything that falls outside the rotation, and the couple of weeks after a hospital stay. Call us and tell us the schedule, and we'll tell you what fits.

Questions Cheshire families ask
Can the Cheshire senior van take my mother to New Haven?
On Thursdays, for appointments between 10 and 2. Each out-of-town destination has its own day, so check the rotation with the Senior Center before you accept a clinic time. A caregiver can drive her on any other day.
Can we start with a few hours a week?
Yes. You can begin with a few mornings or afternoons and add hours, overnights or live-in care later. Your Care Manager changes the plan with you as her needs change.
What if my mother also needs nursing or therapy?
For skilled nursing, home health aides or physical therapy, Endurance Home Health, our separate company that provides them in Connecticut only, can help. Our caregivers handle daily life: personal care, meals, the house, medication reminders and company, and where a doctor or a home health nurse already has a plan running, we build our hours around it.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your mother has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
I don't live nearby. How will I know how she's doing?
Your Care Manager keeps you posted on a schedule you agree together, and you'll always know who to call when something changes.
