Monroe's senior rides, and booking ahead
The Monroe Senior Center runs free curb-to-curb rides for residents 60 and over and adults with a disability, around Monroe and to Trumbull, Shelton, Stratford and Bridgeport. Riders need to be registered members of the Senior Center first. Rides are booked at least five days ahead and can be booked up to six months out, and out-of-town appointments need to fall between 9:30 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.
A caregiver can take the trips that come up at shorter notice or later in the day, and help your father get ready on the days he rides. If he isn't a member yet, it helps to join before the first ride is needed.
Where an appointment can't be moved into the town's window, that trip becomes a private arrangement: a single ride, priced on its own, separate from any ongoing care package. And the unplanned couple of weeks after something happens is the stretch we're built for: a short, dense arrangement that ends when your father is steady again.
Day to day, our caregivers help with personal care, bathing, dressing, mobility support and transfers within a caregiver's training, medication reminders, meal preparation, the household routine and companionship. Where a clinical plan already exists, we work alongside it.
