Getting to appointments from New Providence
Union County Paratransit runs curb to curb anywhere in the county for residents 60 and over, on weekdays between 7:30am and 5:30pm. Rides need to be booked at least six days ahead.
For appointments that come up sooner, or fall in the evening or on a weekend, a caregiver can drive your parent there and back and help them settle in at home afterward. We're available on Tuesday for something you found out about on Monday, and at six in the evening or on a Saturday, which paratransit isn't.
Coming home after a hospital stay
If your mother or father is coming home after a hospital stay, we can plan help around the day they come home, so the first days are covered. As things settle, your Care Manager adjusts the hours with you.
We cover the daily living side of coming home: getting the house ready, the first nights, meals, routine and getting to follow-up appointments. Where your parent's doctor or a home health agency already has a plan in place, we build our hours around it.

Can we use county paratransit?
Yes, for trips you can book six days ahead on a weekday. A caregiver can cover the rides that come up sooner, and the evenings and weekends.
Can someone help in the morning and again in the evening?
Yes. Care can be split into shorter visits at the times of day that are hardest, and changed as needs change. In a split-level, where the difficulty is spread through the day, two shorter visits often work better than one long one, and we walk the actual levels, including the half flight to the laundry, before recommending anything. Your Care Manager adjusts the plan with you.
Can someone stay overnight?
Yes. An awake caregiver can stay through the night hours, or we can arrange live-in or around-the-clock care. We'll talk through which fits the nights you're worried about.
How quickly can care start in New Providence?
Our New Jersey office is in Short Hills, about fifteen minutes away, so this is one of our better-covered Union County towns. Weekday daytime hours staff sooner than awake overnight, as everywhere. Tell us the schedule and we'll give you a realistic answer.
How do families pay for home care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
