Does Endurance Home Care provide companion care in Elmsford?
Yes. We provide companion care throughout the Village of Elmsford from our Stamford office, about 28 minutes away. It can be a few hours a week, overnight, live-in or around the clock. A registered nurse visits first to plan the care with your family, and you meet your companion before the first visit.
Care options in Elmsford
Companion care, on the schedule you need
In New York we provide companion care only, and it can run by the hour, overnight, live-in or around the clock. That means company, meals, light housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and regular updates for the family. Tell us what the days and nights are like and we’ll talk through the schedule with you.
- Hourly careHelp for the hours that are hardest, from a few mornings a week to full days. Easy to add to as needs change.
- Overnight careA caregiver who stays awake through the night hours, there when someone wakes and ready to help them settle again, so everyone in the house gets some rest.
- Live-in careA caregiver lives in the home and helps through the day with meals, routines, company and the house. Agreed rest time, including a night's sleep, is part of the arrangement.
- 24-hour careCaregivers work awake shifts, usually two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts, so someone is up and ready to help at any hour of the day or night.
Wednesdays at the village center
Elmsford's seniors, 55 and older, meet every Wednesday at 12:30pm at the Senior/Community Center on North Stone Avenue. The program mixes fitness classes, educational seminars and social events, and the village calendar has included Gentle Yoga and Bingo. It also gives the community free access to the senior health care TIPS program.
A companion can make Wednesday easy, with a reminder in the morning and a ride there and back, and keep your father company on the other days of the week, with meals together, light housekeeping and errands.
Help from the Town of Greenburgh
Elmsford is a village in the Town of Greenburgh, and some of the help nearby is run by the town. Greenburgh's Home Delivered Meals Program brings a hot lunch each day to homebound seniors 60 and over, and Greenburgh Senior Services, at 32 Manhattan Avenue, serves a weekday senior lunch that asks you to register by noon the day before. Ask the town which programs fit your parent's address.
For rides, Westchester County's Bee-Line ParaTransit is a shared-ride service for people who don't have the functional capability to ride the regular Bee-Line buses, and a Bee-Line bus stop sits half a block from the town's Theodore D. Young Community Center. A companion can drive when the bus doesn't fit the day, and cover the meals, errands and company in between.
Getting started
How care is arranged in Elmsford
It starts with a conversation, and nothing begins until you say so.
A conversation
Call or send a request. Tell us who needs help, where they live and what's been getting harder. You don't need the right words.
A nurse visits at home
A registered nurse comes to the house in Elmsford, gets to know everyone and writes the care plan with you.
You meet the caregiver
We choose a caregiver for the routines and preferences that matter and introduce them before the first visit. If it isn't working, we find someone else.

Credentials and recognition
Questions Elmsford families ask
When do Elmsford seniors meet?
Every Wednesday at 12:30pm at the village Senior/Community Center, 10 N Stone Avenue, for residents 55 and older. The program includes fitness classes, educational seminars and social events. A companion can drive your parent there and home again.
Does Greenburgh deliver meals to seniors at home?
The Town of Greenburgh runs a Home Delivered Meals Program for seniors 60 and over who are homebound by illness or disability or are otherwise isolated, with a hot lunch delivered each day. Check with the town about your parent's eligibility. A companion can share that lunch and make the other meals of the day.
Can a companion take my mother to appointments?
Yes. A companion can drive her, stay through the visit and bring her home, on the days you choose. Westchester's Bee-Line ParaTransit is another option: a shared-ride service that runs within three quarters of a mile of a regular Bee-Line bus route, during that route's hours.
Is there a library close to Elmsford?
Greenburgh Public Library, which serves the Elmsford area, is at 300 Tarrytown Road. Its Resources for Seniors page points to the town's senior services, transportation options and caregiving resources. A companion can take your parent to the library, or pick up and return books.
How do families pay for companion care?
Care with Endurance is private pay. If your parent has a long-term care insurance policy, we can help with the policy paperwork. Medicare doesn't pay for ongoing daily help at home.
